You
are not sure what to wear in Delhi. Fine. We will help you. Delhi is an
extreme case when it comes to temperature. The sun could give you
sunstroke in summers but save you from freezing out in winters. There
are basically three seasons in Delhi - Summer (April to August), Monsoon
(July to October) and Winter (October to March).Summer Clothing
Delhi is extremely hot in summers. So wear cotton clothes. Light T-Shirts will do fine. The cotton will absorb the sweat and will make you feel relieved. A good deodorant is a must since the heat and sweat will make you prone to body odor. One should carry a sunscreen of minimum of SPF 30, preferably with UV filters. Wear jute flip-flops or open sandals for your feet. Women should refrain from wearing clothes that are too tight or revealing like a low neck top or a skirt that ends two inches above the knee (save them for nightclubs). It could garner unwanted and lewd attention.
Monsoon Clothing
Monsoon Clothing is not very different from summer clothes but avoid wearing pure cottons and pastels shades since the muck will ruin them. At this time the humidity is at its height so it is ok to wear denim lowers, T-shirts and clothes that dry out easily like chiffon or georgette in dark colors. Dont wear synthetic as they will stick to your skin making you feel uncomfortable. Try to wear plastic footwear like beach flip-flops so that your shoes are not damaged. Have a semi-warm shawl around to save yourself from the chill that sometimes accompanies the rain.
Winter Clothing
Winters in Delhi are very cold with the night temperature dipping very low. Carry a lot of mufflers, caps, socks, gloves, scarves and woolen clothing. Since early morning sometimes sees thick smog, it is advisable to go for jogs in thick jackets. Also pack some woolen innerwear and wear clothing in layers, which will give you style as well as the required protection from the chilly wind.
