The name Talkatora has been derived from word Tal meaning pond or water tank and Katora due to its shape resembling a bowl. This place also has a historical significance in the form of a spot where the Mughals defeated the Marathas in 1738.

Talkatora Garden of Delhi is located on the main Willingdon Crescent Road, very near to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Eventful Description
The Talkatora Gardens is beautifully laid resembling the Mughal style; it looks resplendent with sporadic water bodies, the variety of flowers and the cheerful trees. Earlier it used to have a water tank but today it has a large swimming pool. The garden is in its prime in the spring season when all the flowering plants, shrubs and flowers come to life to serenade the environment.

It is an excellent picnic spot, given its relaxing and peaceful ambience. The garden lawns also serve as a venue for various shows, programmes and competitions held throughout the year. Special horticultural shows for children are also organized from time to time so as to develop their interest in skill of growing and nurturing plants.
