Lodi Garden in Delhi is the creation of two dynasties Sayyids and Lodhis. The garden was re-landscaped in British period.

Lodi Garden in DelhiLodi Garden in Delhi is the combination of picturesque gardens and the 15th and 16th century monuments. It possesses gems like the tomb of Muhammad Sayyid and Ibrahim Lodi and is quite famous among the morning walkers of the nearby South Delhi area. In British times, the park was called Lady Willingdon Park. In 1968 the garden was re-landscaped to its present condition by J A Stein and Garrett Eckbo.

The garden has been carefully kept and it offers rejuvenating experience to the visitors. The tombs in the garden enhance the experience. The tombs are the integral part of the garden and are as famous as the garden itself. The garden is very popular both among the young and the old. One can travel to Lodhi Garden Delhi for a refreshing stroll or just to take a sun bath in winter.

Lodi Gardens in Delhi is located on Lodhi road, three kms east of Safdurjung Tomb and adjacent to India International Centre.

Tombs in Lodhi Garden
The tomb of Muhammad Shah is made in distinct octangular form with a verandah and three arched openings. It is located in the south-west part of the garden. There are a total of eight graves inside it, the largest being of Muhammad Shah. It is noted particularly for the perfect symmetry, the crowning lotus and dome decorations.

Lodi GardenSikandar Lodi's tomb is octangular in form and has features of both Mubarak Shah's and Muhammad Shah's tomb. This tomb occupies the north-west portion of the garden and has sloping ramparts at the corners. It has its garden and personal mosque in the western portion of its compound.

Bara Gumbad is made with ashlar stone. It has an adjoining mosque made in 1494 having a rectangular prayer hall and five arched exits. Sheesh Gumbad is just a few meters away from Bara Gumbad. Its dome is decorated with bright blue tiles.
