This grayish greenish water body is the result of the algae present in its water. It is one of the biggest lakes situated in Haryana. The little fog enclosed mounds make it look ethereal and peaceful. You can find many birds like Cormorants, Terns, Egrets and Kingfishers regularly near the lake. One can try adventure sports like Hot air ballooning, rowing, sailing, army obstacle courses and rock climbing.
Sohna Hills
Sohna Hills is a natural spa among the temperate and non-polluted environs of Haryana. It is just 15 kms from Gurgaon, the IT hub of Delhi. In ancient days gold dust used to flow in this water and even now a glow can be seen, though the gold dust is not found. The place is full of medicinal Sulphur springs which cure lifestyle diseases like stress and other related ailments. Damdama Lake is generally clubbed with Sohna hills since they are quite close.
Sultanpur
Bird SanctuaryFounded by internationally renowned ornithologist Dr Salim Ali in 1971, it was given a sanctuary status in 1991 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The local marsh lands and trees like Khair, Tendu, Jamun and Dhok provide a natural cover for birds like Flamingoes, Mallards, Spotted Sandpiper, Siberian Cranes, Darters, Ruddy Shelducks and Pelicans. The occasional animals consist of Leopard, Wild Dog, Mongoose, Hedgehog and Wild Pig.
Surajkund Lake
Surajkund Lake is a man-made reservoir and not a natural lake against the common perception. It is a very popular tourist spot among both domestic and foreign tourists. It is especially crowded at the time of Surajkund Crafts Mela. The fair is very well-liked amongst the lovers of cultural handiworks and handloom objects. The complex also has ruins of an ancient Sun temple which probably gave the place its name. The lake is in its full glory in the monsoons and one can also enjoy a boat ride.
