Delhi is one the best places to live in when you intend to have a sporty lifestyle. It has quite decent amenities for sports like tennis, cricket, hockey and football. These games are fairly popular amongst the youth here. But for not-so-known sports like wrestling, weight lifting or athletics it is a day to day struggle. There are many training academies and practice ranges that can produce international sportspersons. These academies are generally for flavor-of-the-month sports like Cricket, Golf, Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, Swimming etc.

Quite a few years back Delhi got a chance to host the Asian Games which uplifted its sporting facilities marginally. The upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2010 have the government running on its toes to provide the best sporting facilities to the visiting and resident players. Commonwealth games village is being constructed on a 40-acre site near the heart of the city. The proposed village would have the capacity of around 8,500 athletes and officials. Tennis, Kart racing, Weightlifting and Table Tennis are becoming more popular among the young sporty entrants with each passing day.
